The Navonmesh Prasat Studnet Astronomy Team ( NaPSAT) with a bunch of 10 students has been selected to be a part of NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge 2021. The event is scheduled in April, and for the first time from Odisha, students will be representing at this international level.
The challenge will be accompanied by around ten school and ITI students from Odisha. This is the first time when a team of school has been selected for this challenge. Anil Pradhan, Novonmesh Prasar Foundation founder, stated that the students were explicitly chosen for this challenge. He further said “It is happening for the first time that a school team from India has been selected to participate in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge. We created a team during COVID time and identified 10 students from Odisha. We provided them training and later applied for NASA Rover Challenge. The interdisciplinary team has school students as well as ITI students. They are making a rover which can move on the surface of Mars and it would a human-powered rover”.
The team has been asked to do specific projects like- making a human-powered rover that can be moved on the surface of Mars. NaPSAT is also looking for financial support from organisations or individuals who can support them with the Mars rover.
NaPSAT is an initiative of Bhubaneswar-based Navonmesh Prasar Foundation which is an interdisciplinary team of space practitioners who interlace in several projects differing from the deigns of space systems, rovers, rockets, satellites and astronomy to participate in multiple international events.
