Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), issued an investigation order on Friday over the claims that the holy dish Mahaprasad, which is served to Lord Jagannath, is cooked in an iron “kadhai.” Padhee gave an order to turn in a thorough report on the actions performed in less than a week. According to the article, claims that Mahaprasad was being cooked in a steel vessel rather than the customary clay pot prompted the investigation.
Accompanying the confiscated iron “kadhai” purportedly utilized for Mahaprasad production ought to be the report. Sura, Mahasuara, Roshpaik Nijog, and Rosh Amin have been given the authority to carry out this command. Also, a three-person team consisting of Deulkaran, Talichcha Mohapatra, and Pattjoshi Mohapatra has been tasked with performing a comprehensive inspection of the Srimandir Roshasala (Kitchen). It is against Lord Jagannath’s culture’s customs to prepare Mahaprasad in an iron kadhai. Earlier, the Suar and Mahasuara Niyoga had written to the temple authorities protesting this practice.
The Chief Administrator has said that the Shree Jagannath Temple’s cultural legacy shall be protected at all costs and that any departure from custom would not be accepted. It’s important to remember that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a shortage of clay pots, which is why people began making Mahaprasad in iron kadhais.
