The Commerce and Transport Department has made significant progress over the past ten years, including eliminating broker fees for RTOs, operationalizing intra-state flights, and executing the Odisha Port Policy 2022.
Today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik evaluated the C&T Department’s operations and performance. Following the evaluation, the Department provided information on the accomplishments and performance of the Odisha Departments of Commerce and Transport. The details are as follows:
Major Reforms Made
Road Transport Regulatory Sector
1. Right to Public Services
Up to 31 of the 32 services that the C&T Department said will be provided in accordance with the Odisha Right to Public Services (ORTPS) Act are already offered online. The goal was accomplished by 2022. To make the services “Visit-less” for the public, more initiatives are being made. The majority of these services pertain to registration certificates (RC) and driving licenses (DL). It is important to note that with the advent of chip-based Smart Cards for DL & RC, Odisha was one of the pioneering states in 2006 to install VAHAN (application software for Vehicle related services) and SARATHI (application software for Driver related services).
