Dikhyaa Mohanty 
Shortly after senior BJD MLA Pramila Mallik resigned from her position, School & Mass Education Minister Sudam Marndi was given additional responsibility for the Revenue & Disaster Management Department. After being selected by the BJD as its candidate for the position of Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Mallik presented her resignation to the Chief Minister. She subsequently submitted her nomination for the position of Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
The department had previously been with Marndi. It is important to note that Marndi plays a significant role in Mayurbhanj politics. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was where he began his political career. As a JMM candidate, he was chosen twice for the Odisha Legislative Assembly and once for the Lok Sabha.
He then joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), and in 2014 and 2019, he was twice elected from Bangriposhi to the Assembly. He held numerous ministerial positions in Naveen Patnaik’s Council of Ministers from 2014 until 2017.
