Police discovered the girl’s death in one of the flats in a flat building in the neighbourhood after conducting a thorough search because she had been missing since Sunday morning. In Kolkata’s Tiljala neighbourhood, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly killed after being sexually assaulted by one of her neighbours. This prompted neighbourhood residents to stop roads and railway tracks and vandalise police cars on Monday.
Locals blocked up the highways in the Tiljala area on Monday morning in protest of the detainees’ continued detention. In the late afternoon, they obstructed traffic and railway tracks in the South Sealdah part of the crucial EM Bypass. According to a police officer, three police cars were broken into and one of them was set on fire.When a sizable team of security forces arrived to disperse them, locals also threw stones at police officers. The policeman stated, “We are conversing with the protesters and monitoring the situation.
