In an apparent dig at the AAP’s election-related promise of “free electricity,” PM Modi added, “We won’t give free electricity, but we’ll supply green electricity that can even be sold if you have surplus.” A government release stated that creating Modhera, the nation’s first 24/7 solar-powered village, included erecting a ground-mounted solar power plant and more than 1,300 rooftop solar systems on private and public structures.

Modhera in Gujarat’s Mehsana district was designated as India’s first solar-powered village by Prime Minister Modi on Sunday.Prime Minister Modi declared during a rally that Modhera, which was formerly famed for its Sun Temple, will now be be known as a solar-powered community.

Prior to recently, the government provided electricity to the general public, but with the construction of solar panels, according to PM Modi, people will now be able to generate their own electricity.

The state’s citizens, irrespective of his caste, have supported him for the past 20 years, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gujarat’s upcoming assembly elections are expected to take place soon. In order to maintain power in PM Modi’s home state, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) needs to win the elections. The Congress is hoping to win after having been out of office for 27 years in the state.

According to the Gujarat administration, it has made sure that numerous welfare initiatives are implemented sustainably in Gujarat while also keeping in mind the Prime Minister’s goal of expanding the usage of renewable energy in India.

Near the Modhera Sun Temple, a battery energy storage system (BESS) and infrastructure facilities for electric vehicle charging and parking have both been erected. A 3-D projection facility will also be dedicated by PM Modi to the venerable Modhera Sun Temple.
