Mohammed Siraj replaces injured Jasprit Bumrah

After suffering a stress fracture prior to the first T20I in Thiruvananthapuram, Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out. Mohammed Siraj will take Jasprit Bumrah’s place for the remaining two T20I matches against South Africa, the BCCI announced on Friday. Jasprit Bumrah, who is injured, will be replaced by Mohammed Siraj by the All-India Senior Selection Committee for the remaining T20I series against South Africa, according to BCCI.

“Bumrah has a back ailment and is now being treated by the BCCI Medical Team,” it states.Siraj has participated in five Twenty20 internationals for India; his most recent match was against Sri Lanka earlier this year. The pacer, who was 28 years old, was representing Warwickshire in county cricket. Bumrah missed the opening T20 match against South Africa on Wednesday and, the following day, flew to Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy to have his back problem assessed.

Bumrah has been disqualified by the BCCI from the opening Twenty20 match against South Africa on Wednesday in Thiruvananthapuram. “Jasprit Bumrah expressed back soreness on Tuesday during India’s practise session. He was evaluated by the BCCI Medical Team, it had stated.
