Tuesday marked the end of the 2-Day NUA Odisha Global Summit on Growth & Employment in Bhubaneswar. In addition to speeding up the state’s growth, the summit provided a forum for the sharing of ideas, best practices, and innovations in the areas of skill development and job creation.
Over 500 delegates attended the inaugural summit, which was organized by the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education (SDTE) of the Government of Odisha. Participants included more than 100 industry captains, HR chiefs, academics, and stakeholders from the skill sector. Throughout the summit, sixteen distinct sessions were infused with ideas, perceptive conversations, and thoughtful deliberations that will have a lasting effect on the state’s economic growth and job market.
Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, SDTE Department, stated during a news conference following the event that “Odisha possesses significant potential to establish modern industries.” Numerous investors are drawn to the state government’s innovative industrial policies. Apart from customary industries, Odisha exhibits immense potential in the fields of IT and ITeS, manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods, supply chain & logistics, and diverse services. In addition, our state is actively preparing its youth to meet the expectations of the future through the “Skilled In Odisha” campaign. The two days of thought-provoking discussions will be crucial in forming the plan of action for our upcoming projects.
On day 1 of the event, Pritiranjan Gharai, Minister of Skill Development and Technical Education emphasized that by building ‘Skilled In Odisha’ as a global brand, Odisha is now recognized as a significant skill development hub.
On the 2nd day of the summit, an interactive session on ‘Championing Women’s Empowerment’ with Sujata Rout Karthikeyan, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Mission Shakti highlighted the impact of women empowerment programs in the state. She elaborated on how the strength of over 70 lakh women contributes to the growth of Odisha.
