NFSU to Establish Cyber Security Campus in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: The National Forensic Science University (NFSU) is set to establish a new campus in Odisha to provide specialized education in cyber security, targeting the state’s youth. The decision was discussed during a meeting between a delegation from NFSU and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan on Friday.

Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the growing need for such an institution in the state, citing the increasing threat of cybercrime. He assured the delegation that the state government would offer all necessary support to facilitate the establishment of the campus.

“The campus will play a vital role in developing experts in crime investigation and prevention, which will also benefit Odisha’s police personnel through cyber security training,” said Majhi. He added that the requirements of the state’s scientific officers would also be addressed by this initiative.

Majhi further expressed the government’s commitment to transforming the campus into a premier Center of Excellence.

Among those attending the meeting were Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, NFSU Director Dr. Purvi Pokhariyal, Tripura NFSU Director Dr. HK Pratihari, and several other experts. Senior state officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Home Satyabrata Sahu, DGP YB Khurania, and Additional DGP Arun Bothra, were also present.

Following the meeting, the Chief Minister shared the update on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, emphasizing the importance of the NFSU campus in addressing rising cybercrime in Odisha.
