BHUBANESWAR: A team from the Crime Branch is set to take Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) Dinakrushna Mishra and four other police officers from Bharatpur police station to Gujarat for polygraph tests in connection with the alleged torture of an Indian Army officer and his fiancée.
Sources reveal that the suspended IIC, along with four other suspended officers, will undergo polygraph tests, brain mapping, and narco-analysis in Gujarat. The four officers include Sub-Inspector Baisalini Panda, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Salilamayee Sahoo and Sagarika Rath, and Constable Balaram Handa.
The decision to carry out these tests follows approval from the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court in Bhubaneswar, after a plea by the Crime Branch. The court stated that since the incident occurred within the confines of the police station without any eyewitnesses, scientific methods such as polygraph and narco-analysis could be essential in uncovering the truth.
Legal experts indicate that if Mishra clears the narco-analysis test, the complainant may also be subjected to similar tests, including lie detection, polygraph, and narco-analysis, to further the investigation.
The case has drawn significant attention as it involves allegations of police misconduct against an Indian Army officer and his fiancée, and the results of these scientific tests are expected to play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the investigation.
