Sukanta Kumar Nayak, a Nilagiri MLA, joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today at Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Nayak resigned from the BJP two days earlier.
At a Mishran Parb held at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Nayak made his comeback to the BJD with the support of hundreds of followers. During the program were MP Sasmit Patra, senior leader Pratap Deb, and other guests.
On Friday, the two-term Nilagiri member submitted his resignation to Manmohan Samal, the president of the State BJP.
In 2024, Sukanta Nayak was elected to the State Assembly on the BJD platform. On the BJP ticket, he was also elected from Nilagiri in the Balasore district in 2019.
