In the middle of the night, a home fire in Bursa, Turkey, claimed the lives of nine individuals, including eight children. The city governorate said on Wednesday that after responding to an emergency call at midnight, firefighters promptly put out the fire only to discover the remains of a family who had been killed by the fire while they were asleep.
The deceased, according to the governorate, belonged to the same Syrian family, which also included their mother, two cousins, and six siblings. The kids were no older than 11 years old, according to the Xinhua news agency. The governor’s office said that preliminary assessments suggested that the family’s stove heater was to blame, but a more thorough inspection was still waiting.
