Niti Aayog Member Dr V K Paul Urges People To Wear Mask At Home

With the rising case of Coronavirus across the nation, Niti Aayog’s member health, Dr V K Paul urged people not to go outside unnecessarily and even to wear a mask at home as the coming month can be even more serious.

While speaking at a Union Health Ministry Press Conference Dr V K Paul advised the citizen to wear a mask and not to venture outside unnecessarily and to stay with family. He then asked the people with the situation getting even worst people should wear mask within the family also.

“Please don’t invite anyone to your home. This is not the time to do so. Take all possible care within the home. Protect yourselves and your family members,” he further urged the people.

Joint Secretary Union Health Ministry, Luv Aggarwal stated that by not following physical distancing one infected person could infect 406 people in 30 days. Reducing physical exposure by 50 per cent, one person can only infect 15 people in 30 days. Reducing the physical exposure by 75 per cent, one infected person can only infect 2.5 people in 30 days

He further said that people must understand the importance of following Covid appropriate behaviour in controlling and managing the infection. He also pointed out that a mask coupled with physical distancing can lower the transmission risk. As both Covid infected person and an uninfected person not wearing a mask or maintaining social distancing have a 90 per cent risk of virus transmission.

He further elaborates that there is a 30 per cent risk of transmission when the infected person is not wearing a mask and the infected person is wearing a mask. There is a medium risk (five per cent) of transmission when an infected person is wearing the mask and uninfected is not wearing it.

He later explained that the transmission risk becomes low when both the people are wearing the mask and there is a negligible or lowest risk when both (infected and uninfected person) is wearing a mask and maintaining a physical distance of six feet.

While talking about the vaccination process of 18 years old and above, Dr V K Paul that woman can take the Covid vaccine during their menstrual cycle and there is no such reason to postponed the vaccination process.
