Nitish Kumar’s speech after resigning

In order to stake his claim to form a new government, Nitish Kumar met with the governor of Bihar and presented a letter of support from 160 MLAs. Nitish Kumar declared on Tuesday, shortly after stepping down as chief minister of Bihar, that the JD(UMPs )’s and MLAs concur that the party should leave the NDA. Following a meeting of his JD(U), where it was decided to leave the BJP-led NDA, Kumar submitted his resignation to Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan.

“All MPs and MLAs are at a consensus that we should leave the NDA,” stated Kumar. In order to dissolve the state’s partnership with the BJP, he also presented a support letter from 160 MLAs to stake his claim to power and create a new government.

Upendra Kushwaha, the head of the JD(U) parliamentary board, had earlier congratulated Kumar for “taking leadership of a new coalition in a new shape.”

“Go for it, Nitish ji. The nation is expecting you, Kushwaha continued in the post.

A sizable contingent of party members had been waiting outside to see their leader when Kumar arrived in a cavalcade from his home.

Workers for the opposition RJD, which was widely expected to form the new administration, joined their JD(U) counterparts in chanting “Nitish Kumar zindabad.”

About four o’clock in the afternoon, Kumar arrived at Raj Bhavan, where he met Chauhan and informed him of his decision to step down as state chief minister.

Outside the chief minister’s mansion, a large police presence was visible. Many JD(U) lawmakers reportedly warned chief minister Kumar in the meeting that their alliance with the BJP has made them weaker since 2020.

The lawmakers reportedly warned the CM that if they were not vigilant, it would not be good for the party, recalling the conduct of the former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) head during the 2020 state assembly elections without specifically mentioning Chirag Paswan.

As part of what some have claimed was a BJP conspiracy to wriggle its way into the state’s ruling alliance, Paswan had fielded rebel BJP candidates in every seat that the JD(U) will be contesting in the 2020 elections.

Leaders of the CPI-ML and the Congress, two members of the opposition “Mahagathbandhan” alliance in the state, attended a meeting of the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan opposition alliance on Tuesday at the home of former chief minister Rabri Devi.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal MLAs, MLCs, and Rajya Sabha MP authorized party leader Tejashwi Yadav to make a decision following the meeting and affirmed their support for him, according to sources. Sources claim that MLAs from the Congress and Left parties have also endorsed Yadav.

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the RJD party, is reportedly constantly monitoring the proceedings, but Tejashwi Yadav is in charge of everything, according to sources.

Rohini Acharya, the daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, tweeted about a forthcoming political shift in the state at the same time.

She wrote in Hindi, “Get ready for the coronation, lantern holder,” and included a “victory” emoticon.

Any realignment in Bihar’s ruling coalition without the BJP will be welcomed, according to the RJD-led opposition in the state.
