The Tasar Rearers Cooperative Society (TRCS), Bhagamunda, has signed an MOU with India’s leading online shopping website Flipkart for the online sale of Tasar Silk products. The District Administration of Keonjhar congratulated the TRCS for this outstanding collaboration.
Bhagamunda TRCS was established in the late 1970s, and now it is located in Harichandanpur block with more than 1500 Tasar growers. Back in the 1970s, there was a insufficient livelihood, and the income facilities were also fixed. So the income-generating opportunities were back in that time was possible in the expertise area.
But in the 2000s, the inherent economic Tasar was realized, and since then, four more TRCs have been set up in that block. For sustaining 3000 Tasar growers, the TRCSs have trained around 300 rural and tribal women who carry out reeling, spinning, fabric printing, and embroidery.
Those whose lives were associated with Tasar sericulture their value addition system was completely transformed. Even this also helped to give a helping hand to many people and helped to empower hundreds of disadvantaged women.
The District Administration of Keonjhar also congratulated the stakeholder who has worked so hard to achieve this and applauded this initiative.
Earlier Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also informed that Odisha’s exquisite handicrafts and handloom products will now be available through online websites through the KalabhoomiBBSR eStore Flipkart. In 2019 the Tasar Silk Park was funded and inaugurated by the Odisha Government at TRCS Bhagamunda.
Here the institution has been equipped with 100 solar Powered Reeling Machines, 10 Re-reeling Machines, 5 De-Flossing Machines, 2 Book Making Machines, and 1 Digital Textile Printing Machine.
