NTPC Limited’s Talcher Kaniha station continues to strengthen its position as one of the country’s leading thermal power plants under the leadership of Shri Kariveda Narasimha Reddy, Executive Director and Head of Project at NTPC Talcher Kaniha.

With over three decades of service in NTPC, Shri Reddy brings extensive expertise in power plant operations, maintenance, and project execution. Born on April 2, 1966, in Andhra Pradesh, he joined NTPC on September 5, 1989, as an Executive Trainee in the Mechanical Maintenance Department. Since then, he has steadily risen through the ranks, taking on key responsibilities in Operation & Maintenance, Project Management, and Project Planning & Monitoring.
An alumnus of Kakatiya University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Shri Reddy has played a pivotal role in enhancing plant reliability and performance across several major NTPC stations. His professional journey includes significant assignments at NTPC Kahalgaon, NTPC Simhadri, NTPC Barh, NTPC Rihand, and NTPC Faridabad, where he served in leadership capacities such as Head of Mechanical Maintenance, Head of Operation & Maintenance, and Head of Project.
Known for his technical acumen, Shri Reddy’s areas of specialization include rotating equipment, mills and feeders, boiler maintenance, and overall plant systems management. He has consistently emphasized preventive maintenance, operational discipline, and strict adherence to safety protocols. His commitment to professional excellence is reflected in his participation in advanced training programs on Safety Leadership, Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA), Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG), NTPC Business Excellence Model, sustainability, preventive vigilance, and leadership development.
Beyond operational milestones, NTPC Talcher Kaniha has also emerged as a catalyst for social transformation in neighbouring communities. Through its flagship Girls’ Empowerment Mission 2025, the plant has trained over 570 girls from government schools, equipping them with digital literacy, life skills, and mentorship support. The initiative has inspired many participants to pursue higher education and professional careers, opening new avenues of opportunity.
The station’s skill development programmes have also trained hundreds of local youth in welding, electrical maintenance, IT, and entrepreneurship, boosting employability and encouraging grassroots enterprise. Nearly 200 women have been empowered through sustainable livelihood initiatives such as millet-based food production, goat rearing, mushroom cultivation, and poultry farming, enabling steady income generation and improved socio-economic outcomes.
In addition, NTPC Kaniha has contributed significantly to healthcare and education in surrounding areas. Upgraded classrooms, libraries, and digital laboratories have enhanced learning environments, while medical camps, preventive healthcare drives, clean drinking water facilities, sanitation infrastructure, community halls, and improved roads have strengthened community resilience and quality of life.
Under Shri Reddy’s leadership, NTPC Talcher Kaniha continues to align operational excellence with social responsibility, reinforcing NTPC’s commitment to reliable, efficient, and sustainable power generation while uplifting the communities it serves.
