Odisha is now at 14th place in the Niti Aayog’s Second Innovation Index ranking while Karnataka continued to remain at the first place in the ranking.
The report was released where it showed that Odisha has dropped down to the 14th position by the second edition of Indian Innovation Index ranking 2020 which was released by Niti Aayog and the average innovation score stands at 18.94. In the first edition of the Indian Innovation Index Odisha was at 12th position launched in October 2019.
In Human Resources Index Odisha scored 42.10 points to stand at 10th place. Likewise, it stood at 15th position in Investment and 14th in Knowledge Works categories.
Meanwhile, Karnataka remained at the first position with an innovation score of 42.5 points while States like- Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar have been ranked at the bottom of the index. Among Union Territories, Delhi topped the chart, while in the North-Eastern and hill states category Himachal Pradesh maintained the top spot.
States like Maharashtra, Kerela, Gujurat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and West Bengal have achieved better than Odisha in the Indian innovation ranking Index.
The India Innovation Index 2020 ranks the states and union territories based on their corresponding performance of supporting innovation and strive to permit them to develop their innovation policies by highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.
The states and union territories have been divided into 17 ‘major states’, 10 ‘North-Eastern and hill states’, and 9 ‘city states and Union Territories’, for adequately differentiating their administration.
