Odisha gets a massive infra boost! Soon, there will be a new train station, flyover and football stadium built

World-class sporting stadiums can be found all around Odisha, including the Barabati Cricket Stadium in Cuttack and the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. A new football stadium in Cuttack will be built in the eastern state, adding further fuel to the fire of hatred.Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw declared on Sunday that railway stations in the Cuttack district will be renovated and a football stadium with a flyover would be built. The Union Minister approved Rs 50 lakh for a football stadium in the Panchgaon neighbourhood of Cuttack and took part in a football game in Tigiria Block.

“The construction of the football stadium in Panchgaon has been approved for Rs 50 lakh.” In Ghantikhal, a flyover has also been approved. Additionally, it has been agreed to upgrade the passenger amenities at the railway stations at Rajathgarh and Ghantikhal, according to media sources quoting Vaishnaw.Notably, from June 9 to June 18, last year, Odisha played host to the esteemed Hero Intercontinental Cup, an international football competition. India hosted the four-nation football competition at the Kalinga Sports Complex in Bhubaneswar.Prior to the Intercontinental Cup in May of last year, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik opened three football training facilities in Bhubaneswar. These were Capital Arena Football, Bhubaneswar Football Academy, and Odisha Football Academy.

Bhubaneswar Metro project
The much-anticipated Bhubaneswar Metro project saw its foundation stone placed on January 1, 2024, by Chief Minister Patnaik.One of the biggest investments ever made in an Odisha infrastructure project is the Rs 6,255 crore project. The Patnaik government has already accepted the Detailed Project Report, which was announced on April 1, 2023, Odisha Diwas.“Reviewed the status of Phase-1 of Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project which is going to be taken up under our 5T initiative. It is going to be a major landmark project for Odisha and with this, Bhubaneswar will join the select cities in the country with a metro rail system,” the Chief Minister posted on X earlier.

Important projects in Odisha 

Patnaik sanctioned 12 major projects in November of last year, totaling Rs 84,918.75 crore in intended investments. The investment will be made in a number of industries, including the downstream chemical and petrochemical, steel, power, green hydrogen, green ammonia, textiles, and apparel.
These initiatives will also serve the districts of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh.
