The Odisha government has offered a monthly stipend for postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D. students at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) as part of a significant effort to improve agricultural education and research. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, is credited with facilitating the decision to offer financial aid to students pursuing higher education in agriculture and related fields, according to an official statement released by the Department of Agriculture.

A stipend of Rs 10,000 per month for two years will be given to normal postgraduate students enrolled in agricultural and related disciplines at OUAT. For a maximum of three years, Ph.D. scholars would get Rs 15,000 per month. The funding is intended to support high-caliber research, foster innovation in the agriculture industry, and inspire deserving students to continue higher education without facing financial obstacles.

All normal postgraduate and doctorate students at OUAT researching agriculture and related fields will be eligible for the program. According to the state government, the project is anticipated to boost the university’s research capabilities and promote more involvement in cutting-edge agricultural research, ultimately aiding in the growth of Odisha’s agriculture industry.
