Odisha Govt Deploys Specialized Health Teams To Combat Post-Diarrhea, Flood Health Risks

The Odisha government has responded to public health concerns with timely and aggressive measures, given the post-diarrhea treatment and health issues resulting from the flood crisis. Two specialist health teams have been sent to Keonjhar, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj districts to oversee, coordinate, and assist with the local response activities, per an official news release.

To supervise the post-diarrhea circumstances, a committed team led by Dr. Prameela Baral, Additional Director of Public Health, has been sent to the Keonjhar region. Dr. Baral is keeping a careful eye on the situation on the ground, paying special attention to illnesses that are spread by food and drink. In order to assess the present state of health, put in place suitable preventive and control measures, and guarantee that the public is effectively informed about diarrhea prevention, she is collaborating closely with the district administration. In order to guarantee continuous support for the impacted population, she is also checking the stock position and availability of vital supplies and consumables, including ORS, IV fluids, antibiotics, disinfecting all sources of drinking water, distributing halazone tablets, and other essential items. She is also keeping an eye on laboratory operations.

A second team, headed by Joint Director Dr. Binay Das Mohapatra, has been sent to the districts of Balasore and Mayurbhanj to evaluate the effects of the current flood crisis and to assist stop the spread of water-borne illnesses. In order to avoid epidemics, monitor for any unexpected health occurrences, and put policies in place to handle and manage snake bite cases, this team is collaborating closely with local authorities.

Dr. Mohapatra is also making sure that Anti-Snake Venom (ASV) is available in all medical facilities in compliance with government regulations as part of the preparedness strategy. He is also confirming that the necessary medical supplies and emergency logistics are available, as well as that essential consumables and logistics like ORS, IV fluids, antibiotics, disinfecting all sources of drinking water, and distributing halazone tablets are available.
