It has been verified by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi that the state government will keep funding its health insurance program for journalists who are employed. In written response to a question posed by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati in the State Assembly on Thursday, the chief minister gave his promise.
According to the Chief Minister, plans are presently being made to renew health cards under the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana, a program that provides health insurance exclusively to journalists who are employed. He promised that the renewal procedure will be finished in time for the current cards’ August 31, 2024, expiration.
The Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana has offered health insurance coverage to working journalists and their families throughout the state since its launch in 2018. Typically, these health insurance cards are renewed in August of each year, before they expire. The renewal process for this year hasn’t started yet, though, because of the recent change of government. The chief minister underlined that the state government is still dedicated to helping journalists and will make sure that their health insurance cards are renewed on time.
