Odisha Home To 1,976 Elephants, 20 RBTs, 760 Leopards

According to the most recent elephant census, the state of Odisha has 1976 elephants living in various woods and sanctuaries, the authorities of that state said today.

The State Assembly was informed by Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Amat in response to Tara Prasad Bahinipati of the Congress that Odisha is home to up to 780 large cats, 20 of which are Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT).

According to the most recent tiger census, the State also possesses 760 leopards, according to Amat.

When Bahinipati asked the minister for information about the State’s tiger population according to the most recent census, the minister replied that he had already done so.
