To guarantee a safe and environmentally responsible Diwali celebration, the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) released new rules on Tuesday. Only from 7 to 9 p.m. is it allowed to set off firecrackers. It is legally forbidden to use firecrackers with noise levels higher than 125 dB. Firecrackers are prohibited in parks, quiet areas, and within 100 meters of courts, hospitals, schools, and places of worship, according to the standards. Furthermore, only green firecrackers are permitted, and they can only be set off in open areas. It is forbidden to use firecrackers in populated public areas, residential neighborhoods, and on roadways.
Additionally, the recommendations prohibit the use of high-decibel firecrackers by minors less than ten. To lessen air pollution, firecrackers that contain barium and other dangerous compounds are not allowed to be sold or used. In order to keep everyone safe throughout the celebration, the OSPCB urges residents to abide with these rules.
