Odisha Moves To Integrate Software For Streamlined Cess Collection Under OB&OCWW Board

Today, the P&C Department Conference Hall at Lok Seva Bhawan hosted a critical discussion on the integration of multiple software systems for cess collection under the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (OB&OCWW Board). Anu Garg, the Development Commissioner and now the Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha, presided over the meeting.

The Government, Labour & ESI Department Principal Secretary Chithra Arumugam emphasized the importance of connecting the software systems with the Nirman Shramik Portal. The goal of this integration is to guarantee that the OB&OCWW Board receives the cess amounts collected by cess collectors at the source in a timely manner. In the upcoming years, the action is anticipated to greatly improve the Board’s cess collection efficiency.

Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary to the Government, Housing and Urban Development Department, and Commerce & Transport Department were among the important authorities that attended the conference. Senior officers from various departments and the OB&OCWW Board were among the other attendees, along with Indramani Tripathy, the Labour Commissioner for Odisha; N. Thirumala Naik, the Vice Chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Special Secretary, Finance Department; additional secretaries from the Revenue & Disaster Management (R&D) and Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water (PR&DW) Departments; and an additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Simplifying cess collecting procedures, maintaining transparency, and enhancing the welfare of construction workers throughout the state can all be achieved through the strategic integration of IT systems.
