Odisha Targets 14 LMT Paddy Procurement In Rabi Season

In preparation for the upcoming Rabi season, the Odisha government is working tirelessly to buy paddy. Today’s interministerial review meeting covered this in great depth. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo presided over the meeting, which took place at the Lok Seva Bhawan Conference Hall on the third floor. Krushna Chandra Patra, Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare; Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Minister of Steel, Mines, Commerce, and Transport; Pradeep Bal Samanta, Minister of Cooperation; Suresh Pujari, Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management; Principal Secretaries; Collectors; and other district officials attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the principal secretary for food supplies and consumer welfare, provided an update on the purchase of paddy during the Kharif season. Approximately 16.6 lakh farmers provided approximately 73.45 LMT of paddy during the most recent kharif season. Rs 5,862 crore in input assistance and Rs 16,853 crore in MSP were given for this. Likewise, the current Rabi season’s paddy procurement will last through June 30. According the information provided, a goal of 14 lakh LMT of paddy procurement for Rabi season has been set. Approximately 3.37 lakh farmers have signed up to take part in the procedure. In 20 areas, 965 main agricultural cooperative groups will handle procurement.

Singh Deo, the deputy chief minister, expressed satisfaction with the procurement arrangements made during the most recent Kharif season. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s close supervision made it successful. In a similar vein, he proposed safeguarding farmers’ interests throughout the current Rabi season.

He gave instructions to set up cameras in every mandi and designate supervisors and nodal officials to efficiently oversee the purchase procedure. Given that more farms have enrolled this year, increased vigilance is required. Additionally, he recommended that assigned cops sign up using the Mandai Monitoring App. If authorities are shown to be neglectful in their duties, action may be taken against them. At the conference, it was determined that each mandi would have a minimum of amenities for farmers.

Within 48 hours after purchasing paddy, farmers would receive Rs 800 in input support and Rs 2,300 per quintal as MSP, same to kharif. Furthermore, grievances may be filed up until 1967.
