A proposal to increase the purchase subsidy to encourage the purchase and registration of electric vehicles in the State was accepted by the Odisha Cabinet today. The Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy-2021 was put into action by the state government on September 1, 2021, with a goal of having 20% of vehicles on the road be battery electric by 2025.
Different incentives have been declared for both buyers and manufacturers under the policy rules. ‘Purchase subsidy’ is one of the main incentives offered to encourage the purchase and registration of electric vehicles.
The Cabinet chose to increase the subsidy based on nationwide experience and best practices. According to a formal press release, this will make the program more progressive, assist the State in achieving its goal, and encourage people to buy electric vehicles.
