Odisha To Procure Potatoes Through NAFED, Sell At Rs 30/Kg

The Odisha government has agreed to purchase potatoes through NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd) and sell them to customers at Rs 30 per kg in an effort to end the current potato crisis. According to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, the action will alleviate the potato crisis and make the tuber accessible for all consumers.

For the first phase, a 300MT order of potatoes has been placed through NAFED. He continued, “It will be available in the state by next weekend.” According to Patra, it will be sold in government retail stores in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur, and Berhampur during the first phase.

The Minister has directed the department officials to take necessary steps in this regard.
