Odisha University of Health Sciences Appoints Prof. Datteswar Hota as VC

Prof. Ganeshi Lal, the governor and chancellor, nominated Prof. (Dr.) Datteswar Hota as the vice chancellor of the Odisha University of Health Sciences on Friday (OUHS). On March 5, 2018, the 107th anniversary of Biju Patnaik’s birth, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik issued an executive order creating the Odisha University of Health Sciences to provide high-quality health education in allopathy, homoeopathy, ayurveda, nursing, lab technology, and all other paramedical sciences in the state.

Prof. Dr. Datteswar Hota, Dean and Principal of SCB Medical College and Hospital, was appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to oversee the university’s early operations. From the academic year 2023–2024, all medical and allied health science colleges and institutes will be affiliated with Odisha University of Health Sciences, Bhubaneswar. More than 100 medical facilities, ranging from physiotherapy to nursing, medical colleges to pharmacies, would fall under the purview of OUHS.
