BHUBANESWAR: In a resounding victory that reflects his influence and vision for Odisha’s industrial future, Dr. Prabodh Mohanty has been elected as the President of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI). Known for his dynamic leadership and deep-rooted ties within the entrepreneurial community, Dr. Mohanty’s election was marked by an overwhelming majority, securing not just his own position but also that of his entire team. His ascent to this prestigious role is set to steer the state’s business landscape toward greater heights.
Dr. Mohanty, who also serves as the Managing Director of SNM Group—a multi-faceted conglomerate with business interests in mining, hospitality, manufacturing, power production, and green energy—has long been an advocate for the growth of industries in Odisha. His leadership extends beyond economic ventures, as SNM Group is actively involved in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare, reflecting his vision for balanced social and industrial progress.
One of his notable contributions as the Chairman of Resurgent Odisha 2024, a global trade show organized by UCCI and backed by the Government of Odisha, showcased the state’s potential to both national and international investors. This event, which took place at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, attracted numerous industry leaders, policymakers, and dignitaries, including Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and marked a pivotal moment in highlighting Odisha’s industrial capabilities.
Under Dr. Mohanty’s guidance, the event addressed investment opportunities in several key sectors, including green energy, semiconductors, and IT, while also emphasizing the state’s goal to secure ₹2.5 lakh crore in investments by 2029. The trade show was hailed as UCCI’s largest event since its inception and featured high-level discussions on topics like innovation, logistics, and the defense sector.
With Dr. Mohanty’s deep engagement in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, his election to the top position at UCCI is expected to further elevate Odisha’s industrial profile on a national scale. His strategic vision is poised to help address key issues facing the state’s trade and industry sectors, ensuring they receive attention at the highest levels of policymaking.
Dr. Mohanty’s rise to the helm of UCCI promises to bring new energy to Odisha’s business landscape, fostering growth and paving the way for future industrial and economic advancements.
