Interview Times Angul: The IAF helicopter with 14 persons on board, including General Rawat and his wife, took off from Sulur airbase and crashed minutes before it was supposed to land at Coonoor on Wednesday.
An Odia officer Rana Pratap Das, of the Indian Air Force (IAF), was among those killed with Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat in the helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu yesterday.
The deceased Rana Pratap Das is a native of Krushna Chandrapur village under Talcher in Angul district. He was a Junior Warrant Officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Rana Pratap was in the force for the last 12 years. He is survived by his wife, who is a doctor, and a one-year-old son.
