OMC and IIT-ISM Dhanbad Ink Agreement to Develop Future-Ready Mining Workforce

Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd (OMC), a state-owned company, and TEXMiN-IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, a top Technology Translation Research Park supported by the Department of Science and Technology, inked a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on research, academic collaborations, and capacity building in the mining industry. Director (HR) of OMC Alok Kumar Pal, Deputy Director of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, and Project Director of TEXMiN Foundation Prof. Dheeraj Kumar officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding. There were senior representatives from both organizations in attendance. The deal is viewed as a major step in improving management and technical skills, bolstering institutional capacities, and encouraging technology-led change throughout OMC’s mining operations.

“The collaboration will support structured training programmes, policy-oriented learning, and innovation-led engagement aimed at building a more efficient, future-ready, and sustainable mining ecosystem,” an official release said.

The agreement also covers policy and compliance training, along with collaborative projects and case studies. The partners will also conduct management development programmes and short-term courses, while providing technical assistance and guidance on digital transformation in mining operations.
