The Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS), conducted a two-day review tour to the company’s iron ore mines in the Barbil region as part of a concentrated effort to improve operational efficiency, transparency, and digital governance throughout its mining operations. Senior representatives from OMC’s Head Office, Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Finance) Bana Bihari Pani, and Samal evaluated production performance, ore dispatch systems, and capacity expansion preparedness at important iron ore mines.
On the first day of the tour, the Managing Director spoke with the Mines Managers of all the mines in the Barbil region, including Gandhamardan, Tiringpahar, Roida C, Unchabali, Khandbandh, and Dubna-Sekradihi, and examined activities at the Guali, Banspani, and Jilling-Langalota Iron Ore Mines. In order to guarantee greater increase in iron ore output compared to the prior fiscal year, the review meetings placed a strong emphasis on teamwork, efficiency, and the prompt resolution of operational difficulties.
The emphasis at Guali and Banspani Mines was on strengthening accountability in ore quality and transportation through digital monitoring systems and improving openness in grade-specific ore dispatch. The MD also examined the development of technology-driven solutions meant to enhance real-time supervision and data integrity. In order to support OMC’s anticipated growth to a 12 million tonne production capacity, discussions at Jilling-Langalota Mines focused on operational readiness and dispatch preparation, with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
In order to sustain production momentum and fulfill current fiscal sales objectives, the MD evaluated operations at Roida C, Tiringpahar, Khandbandh, Unchabali, and Dubuna-Sekradihi Mines on the second day. Discussions centered on reaching higher production targets and optimizing ore despatch systems. Samal emphasized OMC’s emphasis on operational excellence, accountability, and openness through digital transformation while reiterating the company’s dedication to ethical and sustainable mining. He pointed out that by establishing OMC as a model for ethical mining, these programs are greatly boosting Odisha’s industrial and economic development.
