OMC Pays Rs 1,420 Crore Dividend To Odisha Govt For 2022-23

The state-owned Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) handed the state government a dividend for the fiscal year 2022–2023 of Rs. 1420 crore on Wednesday. An official statement on Wednesday stated that Steel, Mines & Works Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik presented Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with a check for Rs. 1420 crore.

One of the biggest producers of iron ore in the nation, OMC, reported revenue of Rs 14,450 crore in 2022–2023. With 18 active mines, the state-owned corporation produced 33.76 million tonnes of ore in 2022–23, including 29.68 MT of iron ore, 3.0 MT of bauxite, and 1.08 MT of chrome ore, representing a 14.9% increase over the previous fiscal year.

Many of the state government’s most prominent social programs have received financing from OMC. Through its numerous CSR activities, it has also made a significant contribution to the socioeconomic development of the population, particularly those living near its mining peripheral.

Deoranjan Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary of the steel and mines department, VK Pandian, 5T secretary, OMC managing director Balwant Singh, OMC directors Satyajit Mohanty, Sabyasachi Mohanty, Alok Kuamr Pal, and Kshirod Chandra Brahma, among others, were present.
