For the academic year 2023–2024, the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) released the results of its inaugural professional MBBS yearly examination. The State will shortly introduce the Ayushman Bharat and Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Health Insurance Scheme, which would provide benefits to almost one crore families. He said, “With the old health card, healthcare was only available in about 900 hospitals. However, going forward, eligible State beneficiaries will receive medical services in about 27,000 hospitals nationwide.”
After the results were announced, OUHS signed many Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious universities and reputable medical faculties, strengthening its national and international partnerships. ICMR-RMRC Bhubaneswar, the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) Bhubaneswar, and the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Nursing Stream were among the institutes. Furthermore, according to VC Prof. Dr. Manash Ranjan Sahu, OUHS has official partnerships with a number of prominent national and international doctor faculties from outside the state and overseas, demonstrating its dedication to cutting-edge research and worldwide academic achievement.
It is noteworthy that Shubhalaxmi Padhi of Sahid Rando Majhi Medical College in Kalahandi achieved the highest score (726 out of 900) in the professional BBS test 2023–24. In the same way, the top spots in anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry went to Pratikhya Paul, Subhalaxmi Padhi, and Hiranmayee Padmaja Tripathi, respectively. At an event conducted at the OUHS campus, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling remarked that the Vice-Chancellor and the personnel in charge of the test had done a remarkable job of posting the results within ten days after the examination.
The Odisha government is prepared to become a part of the National Digital Health Mission, which would map patient data digitally and provide each patient with a Unified Identity Card. As anticipated by Mahaling, it would include all the information pertaining to the patients’ diseases, enabling doctors to provide them with better care.
