Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo stressed the importance of improving and streamlining the paddy procurement process on Friday at the District Collectors’ conference held at Lok Seva Bhavan. Singh Deo listed important steps to streamline the procedure, such as permitting farmers to sell their rice in neighboring districts’ mandis if procurement inside their home district is not feasible. He emphasized that cars conveying paddy will be monitored by GPS tracking to ensure transparency and prevent manipulation, and that paddy procurement registration should be completed online.
Singh Deo went on to say that millers are in charge of giving farmers jute twine and gunny bags. In addition, he declared that the state will shortly build 58 new cold storage facilities to preserve crops. The Minister urged farmers to practice organic multi-crop farming and to diversify their operations beyond raising only one crop. The Agriculture Department has created the AGRI STACK App, which will include registration information about farmers and their land, in order to support farmers. The government’s digital crop survey will be connected with the app, and all landowners holding a Record of Rights (RoR) are able to register on it.
The Cooperative Department’s Commissioner/Secretary, Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, went into depth about the steps taken to assist farmers, such as assigning Supervisors and Nodal Officers to supervise activities at each mandi.
