Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani said the Asia Cup could be postponed if India reach the final of the World Test Championship. The Asia Cup is set to take place in Sri Lanka next June. The final match of the World Test Championships will be played at the Lord’s Grounds in England from June 16 to 22.
“The Asia Cup was supposed to take place last year, but it was postponed to 2021 due to the Corona epidemic,” Ehsan Mani told a press conference in Karachi. But this year, too, there are fears that this could happen. Because the final of the World Test Championships will be in June. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have said they will try to host the Asia Cup in June.
The Asia Cup was scheduled to take place in September last year. But it was postponed due to the corona epidemic. The Asia Cup was scheduled to take place in Pakistan, but the BCCI appealed for security.
This year, as in the last two years, the Asia Cup T20 will be played in the T20 format. Previously, it was 50 overs. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are participating in the Asia Cup.
