At 11.30 AM on Thursday, Vigyan Bhawan will host the opening of the 125th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Utkal Keshari Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab. The Chief Guest for the event will be President Droupadi Murmu, according to a news statement from the Ministry of Culture. Additionally attending the ceremony will be Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister of Culture & Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan.
The program honoring the influence and legacy of the Lion of Odisha will also feature Bhartruhari Mahtab, a member of parliament from Cuttack and the son of Dr. Hareukrushna Mahtab. A special commemorative stamp and coin will be released at the ceremony in honor of Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab. A monograph in Odia, an English translation of Gaan Majlis, and a Hindi translation have been created by Sahitya Akademi, an independent organization under the Ministry of Culture, and will be released during tomorrow’s presentation.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture has organized an exhibition about his life and impact. The exhibition will also feature the artwork of Odia painters who have been in Delhi for a few days participating in the National Painting Camp, which is being organized by the Ministry of Culture’s independent organization, Lalit Kala Akademi. Through a musical event, Susmita Das will honor Odisha’s rich history and culture.
