For the improvement of the response time to reach areas connected by narrow lanes and access roads, the Odisha Fire Department planned to deploy rapid response units in the twin city of Odisha. The division will deploy six four-wheel drive vehicles in Bhubaneswar and five such vehicles in Cuttack to operate in areas connected by narrow access roads.
Santosh Kumar Upadhyay DG (Fire services) stated that as it is difficult for heavy fire vehicles to operate in the narrow market areas the new four-wheelers would conduct to those areas. Initially, a rapid deployment unit will be deployed in the state capital between 6 pm and 9:30 pm.
The quick response units will attend to narrow bylanes of Unit – I, II and IV in Bhubaneswar and market areas like Chhatra Bazar and other Sahis of Cuttack.
