Sacred Clay fetching ceremony for celebrated Gajalaxmi puja of Dhenkanal kick-starts

On the occasion of Radha Ashtami, today the sacred Clay Pooja for the celebrated Gajalaxmi puja of Dhenkanal was concluded by Shri Shri Maudamani Rajalaxmi Puja Prastistan Meena Bazaar and Shri Shri Soubhgya Laxmi puja pratistan Ganesh Bazaar. The members of both the puja Prastistans went to nearby Brahmani river with a procession, where on the bank of the river the sacred Clay puja was commenced, after which the sacred Clay was fetched from there which will be used in making of the idol of Goddess Laxmi in the forthcoming Puja which falls on October 19 this year.

WhatsApp Image 2021-09-14 at 6.26.47 PMThe historic and celebrated Gajalaxmi puja of Dhenkanal is  celebrated every year on Kumar Purnima or the full moon day of Ashwin month with great pump and joy and lasts for 11 days. Goddess Laxmi is worshipped in almost 38 puja pandals here, the rest puja committees will fetch the clay on Sunia.

Every year tens of thousands of devotees flock to the town of Dhenkanal to catch the glimpse of goddess Laxmi. Since last year the celebrations are limited only to worshiping the goddess adhering to all Covid-19 protocols and guidelines issued by the government.
