‘Sacred’- Portal For Senior Citizens Seeking For Employment

Senior citizens now will be able to register on a first-of-its-kind dedicated employment exchange from October 1. The Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity (SACRED) virtual platform, to be enabled by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJ&E), will facilitate those above 60 years of age to search for jobs.

According to the reports, R Subrahmanyam, Social Justice and Empowerment secretary stated that the Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity (SACRED) will bring together different agencies and companies for providing work opportunities to the elderly.

Further, the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry has written to the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Association of Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) to provide employment opportunities for elders.

The report further added that the portal will provide full-time, part-time, freelance and pro bono work models for senior citizens. Like all recruitment sites, recruiters will post jobs or projects with specifications and criteria for those who can apply. Eligible senior citizens will have to register with their credentials like education, experience, skills and areas of interest.

Lastly, the ministry also clarified that the portal will act as an enabler for those who are looking for employment but can’t guarantee jobs.
