Siddhanta Das, the former Director-General (Forests) and an expert member of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) is appointed as the Chairman of the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) by the state government.
Das worked as Forest Resource Manager, as an Executive as Divisional Forest Officer and a Supervisor as Conservator of Forests for 8 years.
He has rich experience in imparting training on Forestry and allied subjects as Principal Rangers College, Angul, Orissa (3 years), and Professor in the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun (for 5 years).
He was recognized for his human touch in administration and empathy for sub-ordinates and forest-dependent communities. He was a retired IFS officer where he served 4 years as Secretary of Odisha State Pollution Control Board (SPCB).
There he made a mark for strict enforcement of Environment laws. He put in place an impartial and transparent Environmental Administration mechanism that ensured probity. He burst the myth that SPCB is only after the private sector by enforcing the closure of 2 Navaratna PSUs.
He also served for two years as Project Director of a Food Security program for selected tribal populace taken up under World Food Programme (WFP), a branch of the United Nations. After his retirement, on 1st January he has joined the National Green Tribunal as an Expert Member.
