At the Accor Stadium in Sydney on Sunday, Spain defeated England in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 championship game with a thrilling 1-0 victory. Spanish captain Olga Carmona’s first-half goal made all the difference in whether or not her team was able to maintain its advantage. The first-half woodwork stopped Lauren Hemp from advancing England the closest. The victory also enabled Spain to win the inaugural World Cup.
