Srikant Prusty Appointed Commissioner of Odisha State Co-operative Election Commission

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has appointed retired IAS officer Srikant Prusty as the new Commissioner of the State Co-operative Election Commission, bringing in a wealth of administrative experience to strengthen the state’s cooperative governance framework.

A 2003 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Prusty recently retired from active service. An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, he holds an M.Tech degree and has held several influential roles across departments during his career.

Prior to his retirement, Prusty served as the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) for the Northern Division in Sambalpur. His earlier roles include serving as Special Secretary in the Panchayati Raj Department, where he was responsible for managing resource allocation among Panchayati Raj Institutions.

He also played a key role in the development of the Odisha Textile & Apparel Policy 2022 during his tenure as Special Secretary in the Handloom, Textiles & Handicrafts Department. His service portfolio includes significant positions such as Additional Secretary in the Higher Education Department, Director of Horticulture, and Program Director of the Odisha Tribal Empowerment and Livelihoods Programme (OTELP) under the ST & SC Development Department.

With his appointment, the State Co-operative Election Commission is expected to benefit from his extensive governance experience, particularly in areas of rural development, tribal empowerment, and institutional reform.
