Nikunja Bihari Dhal, a senior IAS official, has been named the state of Odisha’s chief electoral officer. Dhal was the Additional Chief Secretary for the Energy Department and the Special Relief Commissioner. He was an IAS officer from the 1993 batch from Odisha (SRC). Satyabrata Sahu, a 1991-batch IAS officer and secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Departments, has been named the Special Relief Commissioner, while Sanjay Kumar Singh, secretary of the I&PR Department, has been given the additional responsibility of the Electricity Department.
Sushil Kumar Lohani, who has been assigned as the Principal Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department, would be replaced as CEO by Dhal. Lohani will furthermore be in charge as the Excise Department’s Senior Secretary. The managing director of the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority has also been named: Gyana Ranjan Das.
