The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted its successful trial of the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MR-SAM). The trial was conducted from Chandipur Integrated Test Range (ITR) off Odisha coast.
The Medium Range Surface’s mission to Air Missile (MR-SAM) was successful, and it achieved a direct hit on the target. As per the reports, the trials will be conducted till 25th December. The MR-SAM trial was conducted at 3.55 pm from LaunchPad No.3. Even for the mission, the DRDO authorities have temporarily evacuated around 6000 people of five villages who were situated within the 2.5 Kilometre radius of the launch pad. All people were evacuated and were shifted to a safer shelter.
As per the reports, people of Tundara, Jaydev Kasabapahi, Bardhanpurpahi, Sahajan Nagar, Kusumili, Bhimpur, and Khadupahi under Remuna and Sadar Tehsils have been shifted. Even their domestic animals were moved to local camps and schools. Over 2600 people at the prawn farming yards have also been evacuated on a temporary basis to a safer place.

The authorities have advised the people not to go out of the safe shelters during the missile trial as it can be dangerous. They all are advised to stay indoors during the mission.
Apart from their living, financial aid has also been provided to the people during the period. The older adults are provided with Rs 300 each, and for each child, Rs 150. For the cattle feed Rs, 100 is provided to each family, while Rs 40 towards locking each house. For each adult, Rs 15 is provided for entertainment purposes, whereas Rs 75 is given to each little child for refreshment purposes.
