KL Rahul’s stellar performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025, where he scored an unbeaten 93, didn’t just earn praise from fans — it prompted an immediate call from his father-in-law, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty.
After sealing the match with a commanding innings, Rahul celebrated with a bold “this is my ground” gesture at the Chinnaswamy Stadium — a symbolic act that quickly went viral on social media. It wasn’t just the runs but the attitude that struck a chord with fans and family alike.
In an appearance on Star Sports, Shetty shared how the moment left him emotional and proud. “I loved it. Even when I watch it now, I get goosebumps. Every cricketer needs a moment like that — when he tells himself, ‘I can do it, and I’ve done it,’” said the veteran actor. “That was one of the few times I immediately called him and said, ‘That’s the KL Rahul I want to see.’”
Rahul, who is closing in on the 400-run mark this season with three fifties already, has drawn attention not just for his form but also for his confidence — best embodied in his now-famous ‘Kantara’ celebration earlier in the tournament.
Shetty, known for his sense of humor, also joked about Rahul’s evolving mindset and preparation. “Earlier, it was all about net practice and functional training. Now, we’ve added action rehearsals with my stunt directors and even some dialogue delivery practice,” he laughed.
