For the past couple of years, Odisha is playing actively in sports, especially India’s national sport- Hockey. Many hockey players are coming up and competing at the National level. Recently Tankadhar Bag has become the first Odia player who has been selected in the Indian Arrows team.
The Indian Arrows team will be played in the I-League, which will be starting in January. In 2019, Tankadhar was part of the Indian team that won the SAFF-U-18 Championship when he was a trainee at the State Government-run Bolangir Sports Hostel. The defender’s formation in the Indian Arrows team, which is made up of promising junior players, moves in the right path.

Suvendu Panda, Coach of National U-16, stated that Tankadhar’s hard work and dedication has made me successful. The support of the State Government to the AIFF has helped to create this platform for building the local talents to prove their talent nationally. Along with Tankadhar other players are incredibly talented, and they are even getting the right exposure for showing their talent. During their one and half years at the National camp, they have successfully played more than 30 games internationally.
Gangadhar expressed his happiness and stated that he is very fortunate that he got the opportunity to play against the senior and overseas players in the I-League. His establishment is all because of the Odisha Government’s support and his coach Suvendu Panda along with other staff.
