The world’s highest motorable road Umling-la, which is located at an elevation of 190,024 feet, provided an incredible spectacle among the peaks of the mighty Himalayas by hosting the world’s highest international fashion runway. International models from 14 different nations participated in the fashion show, which was held on Thursday as part of the Vibrant Ladakh festival, according to the official.The Ladakh administration, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in Leh, Ladakh Art and Entertainment Alliance, and the Indian Army all provided support for the event.
An official spokesperson stated that the fashion show, which featured two Ladakhi models as well as international models, sought to symbolise and promote the vibrant Indian culture espoused in “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and the highly prized GI-tagged Pashmina of Ladakh, all of which are rooted in the promotion of sustainable and responsible tourism.According to them, the models’ outfits featured a colour scheme that mirrored spring and summer hues and also highlighted pashmina goods made in the Changthang province.
The occasion was an important turning point because it made it possible for tourists from other countries to spend the night in Hanle. The villagers celebrated this decision by honouring the models with special cultural displays.Tashi Gyalson, the chairman of LAHDC, praised the accomplishment, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for permitting international tourists, and anticipated an increase in tourism-related activities in the area.
