Sudarsan Pattnaik, a sand artist who won the Padma Shri award, is the one who made this serious accusation against the ASI.The black pagoda, which is renowned across the world for its architectural beauty, has been illuminated with LED lights that the ASI has put in various spots. But Pattnaik has expressed his displeasure with the manner the lights have been put.
He claimed that the current lighting arrangement is just hurting the beauty of the temple and compared it to the lighting arrangements at an opera celebration.
“A query regarding the lines of light on the temple wall will immediately cross your mind if you are viewing it from a distance at night. I always appreciate efforts made to illuminate the temple in accordance with the Act’s regulations. However, I don’t believe the current lighting setup enhances the monument’s attractiveness in any way. According to Pattnaik, the two lines that can be seen on the temple detract from the monument’s aesthetic appeal.
