Threats to Right of Expression

Freedom of expression is the foundation of human rights, the source of humanity and the mother of truth.

In this modern world, A person’s killing can never be justified. In a democratic country, everyone has the right to expression and one can be punished constitutionally. But if the difference in the ideology led to killings of those who may or may not be innocent then sheerly democracy is a myth in that country.

A BJP worker Abdul Hamid Najar was shot in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir during his  morning walk early Sunday morning, the police said.

Militants fired upon him in a very planned manner. He is a resident of Mohiendpora area of Budgam in Kashmir. He was left injured on the spot. Najar was shifted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital and further details on his plight were awaited. He belongs to the other backward class (OBC).

Another sarpanch Arif Ahmad Shah was additionally harmed in the assault by an extremist in a similar area.

After Shah was harmed in the assault, three BJP activists left the BJP this Wednesday, the Hindustan Times revealed.

“We have left the BJP. I am an unlettered individual and gain my living as a worker. I had joined BJP a couple of months back. I thought it is smarter to concentrate on my living and feed my family cheerfully with no strain,” said Wani, a baker.

Two other panchayat individuals – one of the subsidiary with the Congress – had left after the assault.

A month ago, previous BJP region president Waseem Bari, his dad and siblings were killed inside their shop after extremists terminated on them from short proximity. Bari had 10-part police security and every one of them were suspended and booked on the grounds that they were not with him when he was assaulted.
